What type of appointment do I need?

Our reception staff will often ask what type of appointment you require and are available to help you choose.

Parkfield Medical Centre provides a wide range of appointments that utilise the skills of our healthcare team.

  • Appointments with Doctors 50% of appointments with our doctors are bookable in advance. The other 50% are opened on the day. The appointment length is 10 minutes.
  • Appointments with Nurses Appointments with our nursing team can be booked in advance and are made available on a daily basis. Nursing appointments vary in length depending on the service you require.
  • Duty Team appointments These are 5 minute appointments for one problem only.  They are made available on a daily basis. The duty team often comprises of doctors and nurses.
  • Emergency appointments Urgent slots are provided for problems that cannot wait and when the duty team is full. The duty team will triage requests.
  • Specialist clinics The surgery provides a number of specialist clinic appointments. These include diabetic checks, smoking cessation advice, obesity advice and asthma and respiratory clinics. We also offer a full travel service, blood tests, occupational health services, childhood vaccinations and mother and baby checks. Appointments with our on site counsellor are booked following a consultation with a doctor.
  • Home Visits Home visits are available for housebound patients for appropriate requests. To request a home visit call 0844 477 8640 (option 2). We aim to carry out home visits on the day they are requested. However late visit requests for on going clinically stable conditions may be carried out the next morning.
