Parkfield Medical Centre is very proud of its achievements in the field of medical training. We are an established training practice that helps transform hospital doctors into future GPs for our NHS. We are proud of our learner's achievements and what they will aspire to become when they have left us. Many are established local GPs.
In order to be a training practice the surgery needs to pass strict criteria based on the highest levels of patient care. Currently it takes a qualified doctor three years train as a GP. All of our doctors in training have hospital experience, many having already worked in A+E departments, maternity wards and in general medicine and surgery. On occasions the surgery has medical students present. Medical students can learn an awful lot from our patients and are very grateful that they are given the opportunity to come to Parkfield.

On occasions the practice is involved in clinical trials. We only undertake trials that we feel are safe and beneficial for our patients. All trials undertaken at the surgery have been granted ethical approval. Our medical team has many years of experience participating in clinical trials. Our most recent clinical trial looked at different medicines used for blood pressure control.
