Covid Immunisation Update

Immunisations have not been cancelled during the current pandemic. While immunisations are not being delivered in schools they are instead being delivered by the school nursing service at local immunisation centres. Parents will receive an invitation in the usual way by first class post. On the invitation there is a number for parents to ring. When a parent rings for an appointment they will have a choice of venues nearest to their home.

If you are breastfeeding while infected with Covid-19

There is currently no evidence to suggest that the virus can be transmitted through breast milk. Infection can be spread to the baby in the same way as to anyone in close contact with you. The current evidence is that children with coronavirus (COVID-19) get much less severe symptoms than adults. The benefits of breastfeeding out weigh any potential risks of transmission of the virus through breast milk or by being in close contact; however, this will be an individual decision and can be discussed with your midwife, health visitor or GP by telephone.

If you or a family member are feeding with formula or expressed milk, you should sterilise the equipment carefully before each use. You should not share bottles or a breast pump with someone else.

Booking appointments online

In view of the current COVID-19 outbreak, NHS England have instructed practices to disable the ability to book face-to-face appointments online due to the risk of potentially infected patients attending the practice without appropriate triage.

The practice would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused during these challenging and changeable circumstances.
